Title: Removing internet connection requirement to play

It would be nice to be able to play without logging in every time.  FLSM can do this so why not SS? :)

FLSM doesn't have a store system like SS has. When you log in, it checks which assets you own, downloads things you need, etc. FLSM doesn't do that, so it doesn't need to log in.
