Tools / Pronzilla's People Permutor v1.1.2 - How many Textures?
« on: March 11, 2012, 02:40:32 PM »
For anyone who isn't reloading the add-ons shop every 10 seconds to check for new stuff (seriously, who doesn't?) there's a new version of PPP out: Get it from the add-ons shop

v1.1.2 - How many Textures?

Changes in v1.1.2:
  • Fixed a bug where unexpected hair files caused ppp to explode on
startup.  Thanks again to eldercat for the bug report.
Changes in v1.1.1:
  • Fixed a bug where errors in a teeth texture definition in a character XML file (maybe other texture types, too) caused ppp to explode on startup.  Thanks to eldercat for the bug report.
Changes in v1.1:
  • More changes to cope better if you've got gazillions of custom textures installed
  • Added support for most full-face morphs added by Sex Sim 1.2
  • Start using custom body colours (in a subtle way, no visible controls yet)
  • Minor improvements to individual face-part morphing
  • When generating a girl with an un-natural hair colour (like blue) changed things to usually give her natural-coloured pubic hair, rather than matching the un-natural colour.
  • Finally fixed a long-standing (and very annoying, because I could never find it) bug where the "selected" status of certain textures wasn't remembered properly
  • Fixed some issues with display of custom textures imported by the character editor (like the body texture in Isla Del Sol's "Natalia"). Such textures will only show up if they're referenced by a character you have installed
Extra note: there's a LOT of new face morphing going on in the 1.x versions of PPP. That means that there are a lot more new ways for "random" to turn into "wacky". I've tried to knock the worst of the rough edges off, but it can still get a bit crazy in there, particularly with some of the new face styles.

How do I install it?

First, you're going to need to install a Java runtime from http://www.java.com/

If you've already got Java installed, I recommend checking that you're up to date regularly

Once you have that installed, just create a directory somewhere on your system and put the ppp.jar file in it. Anywhere on the system will do, but the closer it is to your SexSim directory, the less work it will have to do when you first run it

Double-click the ppp.jar file to run it.

Things I'd like to add someday

(disclaimer: inclusion in this list doesn't guarantee I'm ever going to actually add a feature, just that I'm thinking about doing it some day)
  • more tuning of the new morphing stuff
  • support for the "aged" face morph
  • more body colour support, including controls
  • jewellery colour support
  • permuting/morphing males (this may take a while, and I'll probably won't start until jak gives the xml/texture file details)

Requests/Bug Reports?
If there's anything you'd like that's not in the above list, or you're having problems, feel free to suggest/ask about it in
the tools forum. No promises, but I'll see what I can do...

I noticed it's very easy to modify stocking colors using a photo editing program.

Hey, how d'ya think I cranked out so many variants so quickly? :)

Clothing doesn't currently have bump maps.

That sparks a thought for possible feature that stops short of full-on bump maps: any chance we can get something like the "shine" attribute (in the shoes xml files) added to other clothing items?

« on: February 07, 2012, 01:12:35 PM »
I would like to add the skin tones that I've discovered that works beautifully (well, at least for me...) to be added to the the randomizer as well. Is there a way to accomplish that?
Not yet, but it's on the list.

As well as the 5 extra body shapes, this update created 34 new handles for the randomiser to play with (I think - I may have miscounted, and that's counting the skin tone and jewellery colours as 1 each).  Figuring out sane ranges for each one, plus how they interact with each other, takes a while.  This is good, I've just got a slight case of "kid in a candy store" as I try to figure out how to implement them all, and not many hours per week to work on it.

So far, I've hooked up 18 of the new toggles - mostly the basic face component morphs (nose wider, nose taller, eyebrow angle, that sort of thing)

The remaining full-face morphs are tricky from a UI perspective.  I'm still trying to figure out a way to present it to the user that doesn't just batter you about the head with eighty gajillion controls.  I think I have the germ of an idea, and I'm going to take a few days "off" (i.e. probably not actually coding, just thinking) to try and figure out how it's gonna fit together.  The new jewellery options and skin tone will probably get included at the same time.

Holy crap, I just noticed that there's a bunch of extra eyelash styles in there, too.

(PS, thanks for posting the skin tones you used in your other thread - that's helpful info in the "figuring out sane ranges" department)

Pronzilla's People Permutor v1.0

This version is obsolete, get the new one from the add-ons shop

New Faces

Changes in v1.0:
  • First (quick) cut of support for all the new face morphing stuff in SexSim 1.2
  • better reporting (including error display) during startup
Extra note: there's a LOT of new face morphing going on in here.  That means that there are a lot more new ways for "random" to turn into "wacky".  I've tried to knock off the worst of the rough edges, but it can still get a bit crazy in there, particularly with some of the new bodies.

This is essentially a "quick-and-dirty" release to get the initial support out there for some of the new face morphing handles in SexSim 1.2.  Refinements (and some more sophisticated morphing) will follow in time...

What is it?
Pronzilla's People Permutor is a totally, utterly, UNOFFICIAL, Java-based utility for Ripened Peach's SexSim, that creates random girls (only, for now) by mixing up the girls you have installed and morphing the face/body models. It creates 10 girls at a time, named "ppp 0" to "ppp 9".  I'm sure you can figure things out from there.

PLEASE NOTE:
EACH TIME YOU RUN PPP, IT WILL OVERWRITE ANY GIRLS FROM PAST RUNS. IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ANY OF THE GIRLS PPP GENERATES, EITHER RENAME THEM USING THE "MANAGE LADIES" UTILITY, OR USE THE CHARACTER EDITOR TO RENAME/EDIT THEM, BEFORE PERMUTING AGAIN - OTHERWISE THEY WILL GET WIPED.

How do I install it?

First, you're going to need to install a Java runtime from http://www.java.com/ If you've already got Java installed, I recommend checking that you're up to date

Once you have that installed, just create a directory somewhere on your system and put the ppp.jar file in it.  Anywhere on the system will do, but the closer it is to your SexSim directory, the less work it will have to do when you first run it (see below)

Double-click the ppp.jar file to run it.

Note for Windows 7/Vista people

Sexsim keeps its "user_created" data in its program directory.  If you installed sexsim in the "program files" directory, and you run as a "normal" (non-admin) user, that means that PPP won't be able to write directly to those directories, because Windows protects them from editing to avoid things getting accidentally trashed.

There are two ways to work around this:
  • I am told (but have not tested myself) that if you put PPP actually in the sexsim directory, things will work.  This tricks Windows into thinking ppp is part of sexsim, so Windows (mostly) plays nice.  Thanks to forum user oldcock for suggesting this workaround.
  • PPP will detect that it's being blocked.  It will then write the files elsewhere instead, and you can manually copy the files into place.  (ppp will tell you where to copy them to/from).
Problems?

The first time you run it, it'll go hunting across your system for your copy of SexSim, and record that location in a ppp.properties file next to the ppp.jar, ready for next time.  This bit might take a little while (maybe a few minutes at worst, probably more like 30 seconds, depending on the size of your video collection) but it only happens once.

PPP should generate a ppp.log file in the same directory as the .jar file.  If you're having problems, either PM me that file, or post it in this forum with a description of the problem.

Things I'd like to add someday

(disclaimer: inclusion in this list doesn't guarantee I'm ever going to actually add a feature, just that I'm thinking about doing it some day)
  • more UI Tweaks to cope better if you have lots and lots and lots of textures (thanks for the bug report, ed583!)
  • more support for all the new morphing stuff
  • permuting/morphing males (this may take a while, and I'll probably won't start until jak gives the xml/texture file details)
Any requests?
If there's anything you'd like that's not in the above list, feel free to suggest/ask about it here.  No promises, but I'll see what I can do...

The files
ppp.jar is the program itself.
history.txt is just a list of what got added in what version, including bug fix descriptions.  probably very dull, but included for completeness.

Jak covered the missing liz texture (presumably you previously had her installed but removed her?)

Dunno what's going on with the teeth though.

If you still get that problem, can you PM me your ppp.log file?  It should be in the same directory as the ppp.jar.

39
Ah.  I should probably look into that, I don't want it getting unusable just because you installed a bunch of textures.  I'll add it to the to-do list for the next release; the new character morphing stuff is probably going to need a bit of a layout overhaul anyway.

40
This sounds dumb, but: having just tried, it is actually possible to resize the window.  If you shrink it a bit vertically, the first thing to go is the "permute ladies" button.  Have you tried resizing the window bigger?

41
excellent, glad we got you up and running...

OK, new version already here - I updated the original post at the top of this thread with the new jar.  Thanks for persevering, useful bug reports are always good.

(Valve time *very occasionally* works both ways)

PPP is starting, but then failing to launch properly.  Probably means I goofed somewhere - I'll investigate based on that output.

Got it.  I think you have some broken/incomplete/otherwise "funny" custom body textures installed.  PPP should definitely NOT explode when it hits that sort of thing, but it looks like it currently does.

I'll try to get a new version out, with a fix, in the next couple of days or so.  (usual disclaimer: an effect similar to valve time applies)

Actually, all that spew means we're going in the right direction.  Your earlier error meant that Java was failing to find the execution entry point to PPP at all.  This stuff means that PPP is starting, but then failing to launch properly.  Probably means I goofed somewhere - I'll investigate based on that output.  Two more questions:

Firstly, if you look in the same directory as the jar file, you should see a "ppp.log" file.  Could you PM me that file, please?  I don't know if it'll tell me more than the error spew above, but it's worth a go...

Secondly, what happens now if you try to launch it the simple way (like you were at first)?  Does it still give the "Could not find the main class" error?

OK.  Two things to check.

Option 1: the jar file is corrupted somehow.  Kinda tricky to check for certain, since md5 hashes and suchlike are a bit beyond my ken.  Simple check: what's the file size? (right click the jar file in explorer->properties) "Size" should be 171,835 bytes.  If it ain't, it's knackered, try re-downloading.

Option 2: the file association isn't quite correct somehow.
  • Open a command prompt (start button, type "cmd" in the search box, choose "cmd.exe").
  • Check 1: type java.  You should get a bunch of spew saying what version of java you've got installed, followed by a rough guide to the multitudinous command line options.  If not, your java install probably isn't a happy bunny.
  • Get to the directory where you have ppp.jar (cd "\Program Files(x86)\Sex Sim")
  • Check 2: type java -jar ppp.jar  This should launch ppp.  (Not as convenient as clicking, but it should be more reliable...).  If it does launch, that implies that the file association is messed up somehow.  If not, please tell me what it does do
If your java install is messed up, or the file association is messed up, I'd say your best bet is to uninstall java, check that the file association for jar files is removed (and remove it manually if it's not) then re-install java.  That should hopefully sort out the file association properly.
