What other Ripened Peach games are there?
« on: March 21, 2011, 08:19:35 AM »
You'd think they'd all be listed at http://www.ripenedpeach.com/, but they aren't.

I know there is Cherry Dolls, which I bought way back in '09. It was cool but light on features (and the dude couldn't be muted, as I recall, bleh) and I think updates were promised but never delivered, and maybe that's why it's not on the RP site any more.

But the Peach Points site says they can be used in "a variety of online games." Huh? Which ones, besides Sex Sim?

Of course, even if Cherry Dolls was never updated, and I'm not saying it wasn't, eGirl (not by RP) takes the crown for not delivering. They've had an update "in the works" since 2007.   ::)

There is only one Ripened Peach game at the moment, Sex Sim.  We started working on it in earnest in 2008.

We created the original Strip Kittens back in 2001 or so, but then sold it to a new owner in 2004.  In 2009 the Strip Kittens owners wanted to do a full new version from scratch, so we created that for them.  That's the one you can see currently at www.StripKittens.com.

We created Cherry Dolls between 2007-2008, and yes we planned to do some updates but because of the difficulty of the game engine we used for that, and the size of the files it created, we were never able to make that happen.  We sold Cherry Dolls in 2010 to the owners of Strip Kittens.  You can find it at www.CherryDolls.com.

Since we no longer own either Strip Kittens or Cherry Dolls, Sex Sim is the only game listed at Ripened Peach.

As far as Peach Points go, there are other games by other developers in the works which will accept Peach Points.  Whether that ever comes to fruition is outside of our control, and remains to be seen.  At the moment that's all I can say about it.

When I say "we" above, keep in mind that what I mean is my wife and myself.  We don't have a team other than the two of us, and I just want to clarify that so people realize we're not a huge company. :)

That's interesting, thanks! And it certainly explains some things.

I had read an old forum post somewhere by you where you mentioned it was just you and your wife. I think that's really cool. That's the dream, isn't it? A geek wife that wants to work on a porn game with you?

I really like that you guys work hard on your project. I get the impression the SexVilla people are complacent. They churn out clothes, hairdos and different color dildos because they are easy, while basics like adding explanations of the items in the "shop" go ignored. Really? You want me to buy something because of a 100 x 100 px thumbnail? How about you fuck off instead? I'll treat you with the same respect you treat me.

You also mentioned how frustrating it was to see the whole front page of a google search for your game be links to piracy sites. I wish there were something that could be done about that. Maybe all the small-time pornographers need to form some kind of a union or association that can go after it. Though the movie and music folks haven't had much luck.

I could see a model like OnLive taking off simply because the only way to totally prevent piracy is to never give the user the game files in the first place. But unfortunately that's just not a good user experience and there are bandwidth caps.

If anyone is curious how piracy (and the internet in general) is affecting porn, CNBC's special on it is really informative and entertaining.
